What to do if a link partner changes their site content?
Personally I’m not particularly fond of terms like ‘link partner’ and I can’t see how linking to another persons website somehow implies some sort of ‘partnership’ exists. We much prefer to make links to sites based on their usefulness to our audience rather than react to some out of the blue ‘link partnership’ request.
One problem we’ve found is that the life of many websites can be fairly short and what was a good “quality content” site this week could easily become a spammy ad filled holding page next week. There are plenty of people who would love to try to monetize your domain. All it takes is for you to loose interest in the site and let the domain renewal lapse. Many domain registrars immediately try to take advantage of this by placing your lapsed domain on their own holding page till the renewal holding period has expired. Then if the domain has potential it will be snapped up by one of the many people who trade in used domain names. The luckier domains find themselves on new content rich sites, however many unfortunate domain are forced to spend their remaining lives as spammy auto-generated links pages.
